En bref

  • About 70 words fit in 30 seconds; about 35 in 15.
  • The first second decides everything: open with the result, a question or a common mistake.
  • One idea per video. If you have three tips, make three videos.
  • Below are three templates: quick tip, before and after, and myth or fact.

A short video has no time to warm up. A 70-word script, written to be spoken aloud and read next to the camera, saves you ten takes and makes a tighter video.

How many words fit

LengthWords (Reels pace, ~150/min)
15 seconds35–40
30 seconds70–80
60 seconds140–160
90 seconds210–240
People speak faster in short videos than on YouTube. Measure your pace with the calculator.

The structure of a short video

  1. Hook (0–2 s)One line that makes people stop: the result, a question or a mistake they make.
  2. Context (2–6 s)Why this matters, in one sentence.
  3. Content (6–25 s)The tip, the steps or the proof. Just one idea.
  4. Close (25–30 s)One ask: save, follow, comment or watch the next video.

Astuce : Write the hook last. Once you have the content, it’s easier to find the line that sums it up best.

Record without looking like you’re reading

  • Phone upright, text right below the front camera, or better, record with one phone and read on another placed next to it.
  • Very large type and a narrow column. In short videos, few words per line keep your eyes from wandering.
  • Read with energy. In short videos, a tone a little above normal sounds natural.
  • Record two or three times in a row and pick the best. With the text following your voice, starting over is just going back to the top.

Questions fréquentes

Is a script worth it for a 15-second video?

Yes. With so little time, every word counts, and a 35-word script cuts the “so…” and “hey guys” that make people swipe away.

Can I use the same script for Reels, TikTok and Shorts?

Yes. The length and structure work on all three. Just change the ask at the end if each platform needs something different.

How do I read the script if I record on my phone?

Connect another phone or a tablet to CueTwin and put it next to the camera. If you only have one phone, use the front camera and the computer as the screen behind it.
